Pinochle Creek Trail - #7 on Page 31

Trailhead Location Change Up-date 8/10/01

The trailhead is located north of Anchorage on the Glenn Highway at mile 99.4. There is a large turnout on the north side of the Glenn Highway with a spectacular view of the Matanuska Glacier and the Chugach Mountain Range to the south.  Just a short distance past this turnout turn north on a paved street named Pinochle Lane.  Go approximately .5 mile and you will see a turnout on the left side of the road lined with large rocks with an older two story cabin about 200 feet from the road looking south.  This is a good level spot for parking.  Just beyond this turnout a gravel road turns sharply to the right and up into another parking area directly across the road from the turnout on Pinochle Lane. The trail begins at the far eastern end of this upper parking area.  There are no signs posted at this time.  There is a natural embankment on the north side of the road between the two parking areas that can be used for loading and unloading of off-road vehicles.
