This book is designed to provide information about trails leading to a wide variety of outdoor recreation activities on public lands.  The main focus of this book is on trails for wildlife viewing, fishing, and traveling through old gold mining areas created around the turn of the century.  It provides trail information from around Anchorage in the Chugach State Park, and to the north in the Talkeetna Mountains  from the Matanuska Valley Moose Range in the rugged Talkeetna Mountains, to the high rolling tundra in the Eureka area.  It then goes to the Denali Highway, near the head waters of the Susitna River and then to the Denali National Park, the home of Mount McKinley.

Highway and parking directions to each trailhead are provided with trail notes describing points of interest, wildlife viewed during trips, and explanations of difficult areas encountered.

It is important, while traveling through wilderness areas, to have good maps.  Not knowing where you are can take the fun out of a good trip, and even worse, it could be life threatening.  In addition to the trail descriptions, this book provides black and white photographed USGS maps for each trail.

This book is a trails guide only.  It is not a guide for camping, wilderness survival, or equipment.  It assumes the reader will learn or have the necessary skills to experience the wilderness in the manner in which they have chosen.  The reader should keep in mind that these trails are forever changing, due to natural causes or mining activities in the area.  If the trail your are exploring appears unsafe, use your own good judgment and skill level to decide whether or not to continue.

Here at this website, we offer you a brief overview of the information contained in the book.  A more detailed description of trails, locations, type of use, difficulty level, maps and pictures can be found in the book.  To order, please send $12.95 plus $2.00 shipping and handling to:
