Alaska's wilderness is special and unique when compared with other wilderness areas in the United States. It's so vast with limited road access, that the majority of the public do not usually have the time to travel the distances it takes to experience Alaska's backcountry. Trails in Alaska, for the most part, are not maintained and information about trails is very difficult to find, especially outside of the park systems. Introducing: Alaska Wilderness Trails
Alaska Wilderness Trails is a book designed to provide information about trails leading to a wide variety of outdoor recreation activities. Many of the trails in this book are on public lands that are not in a national or state park. Many are in legislatively designated wildlife viewing areas, which have an abundance of wildlife and scenic beauty that is hard to match. Also, they are less restrictive and allow a wide variety of recreation activities, such as hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, motorized vehicles, cross-country skiing and snow mobiling. A sampling of some of the information contained in the book is available on this website. Please feel free to browse through the information available here.
